All proceeds from this auction will be going to support the amazing work of James Hopkins Trust.
James Hopkins Trust has been providing nursing respite care to life limited and life threatened children across Gloucestershire since 1989. The children that we care for have many different complex medical needs which can all be challenging and exhausting for their families. As well as desperately needed respite, we provide practical and emotional help to the family.
We currently support 104 families across our county with regular weekly care and overnight stays at Kites Corner or respite within the family home. There is no charge to our families for our services. Some of our parents will know their baby has a condition that will cause severe disability or shorten their life before they are born, other babies will be diagnosed soon after birth or in early childhood. James Hopkins Trust exists to help these children and their families.
In addition to the respite we offer, each week we host a ‘stay and play’ session - a dedicated session where parents/carers and siblings can meet other families in similar situations which will help them feel less isolated and become part of a community. This will result in many lifelong friendships, as they share both the strains and pleasures of life with a severely disabled child.
Sadly, parents do not know how long they may have with their child. We pride ourselves on making lasting magic memories for the children and their families. Memories of and with their precious child that they can treasure forever.
There is minimal government funding for children’s hospices in the UK, so we are incredibly proactive in our efforts to raise in excess of £700,000.00 per year that we require in order to continue to provide our service.
